Taylor Madgett

Taylor Madgett received her Masters of Fine Arts in Dance with a certificate in Hip-Hop studies from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2020. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia and received her Bachelor’s of Arts in History from Emory University. Taylor specializes in Hip-Hop, House, urban choreography and recently co-founded Raw Groove. Raw Groove is a dynamic duo consisting of Constance Harris and Taylor Madgett, created in 2021 after the two women met and formed a creative partnership during their time in graduate school. Raw Groove is a dance company that performs, choreographs, and teaches in the Denver metro, Aurora and Boulder areas. Taylor is also currently a member of VisKosity Dance Collective and Rennie Harris’ Grassroots company. Her current research focuses on exploring identity and heritage through movement.

As a dancer, teacher and scholar I plan to intersect all that I learn within each realm and apply it to my formation as both an artist and human being. Through self-expression, dance has been extremely conducive to my personal awareness and discovery. I look forward to the ultimate transformation through dance research, scholarship, pedagogy and artistic expression.
